What's a Community

A community is a family, group, possible geographical location, friends, a housing development, really just a select group of people or families that are connected by their activities, beliefs, and bonds created throughout knowing one another. For instance a community of mine would be the wrestling community. As a team we grew together, trained and worked hard together, and became true friends. The community taught me integrity, responsibility, and strength of mind. Communities can be large or small, a whole small town, or a large suburban housing development. They can be a school even. The student population as a community, the staff as another, and then both combined to form another larger community. Many things are passed down and taught in communities, like languages, habits, passions, and lifestyles. In a community people give in so that the community and give out in return. However there can be bad things regarding communities as seen by some. In example a homeowners association. To some it can be a place of peace, order, and cleanliness. To others it requires too many rules and leaves them unable to do the things they want to.

What's in your wallet?

My Wallet and how it Describes Me

Inside my wallet there are many things that will give a person some ideas about who I might be and what things I do and like. These contents however, only give a brief and incomplete idea of who I am. One can only see the material side, and make a guess as to my character and ideals. Many things in my wallet are common, and therefore make me similar to the many millions of people who have similar items in their wallets. So, without further ado, let us dive into the folds of my black leather wallet and uncover what lies within.

As the wallet opens a few things are easily identified and the first pieces of me come to life. With the first third peeled away two things can be easily viewed. First is my driver’s license, and with its discovery my name, age, and place of residence becomes known. The finder will determine that my name is Kyle Jay Johnson, I was born on January 24th, 1991 and am thus 19 years old, and that I live in Lake Stevens, WA. Also within that first fold on my license is a picture of me at age 16. This is a glimpse of what I look like and the first image to be associated with my identity. On the other side of the wallet one will find my debit card with BECU. This can help to give the person the idea that I have a job and have money that I keep within the bank. Further examination of this side will bring a small photo of my ex girlfriend and now best friend. This would give them the idea that I have a girl in my life in some form.

The next unfolding will bring with it many more pieces. In the middle of my wallet one will find a couple gift cards, one to JCPenny and one to Starbucks. This builds further character to my identity and a sense as to what I like. A person could see that I drink coffee, although not which specific drinks I like, and that I buy clothes for myself. Behind these two cards is another piece of the puzzle. A Premera Health Insurance Card lies in wait. Now the finder of my wallet can see that I have health insurance, which shows that I take care of myself. At this moment my identity can be put together at this; Kyle Jay Johnson is a 19 year old Washington resident who lives in Lake Stevens, banks with BECU, enjoys coffee, clothes, friends, and perhaps driving, and also that I am insured for my health. As the person who has discovered my wallet continues onto the very left third of my wallet they will find quite a few more cards to build their impression of who I am. These cards include another gift card to Abercrombie and Fitch, a bus pass, two discount cards to Buckle, a business card to the @td curran Apple specialist store, a TCM Modeling agency card, and Tattoo Evolution’s business card. Quite a bit about me can be determined from these cards. First of all the person can now confirm that I like shopping for nice clothes, perhaps inferring that I enjoy looking good. Next they will see that I at one point rode the city bus as a form of transportation, maybe they will think I’m trying to help the environment, although maybe not. The apple card shows that I might own Apple products and finally the Tattoo Evolution card provides another image of myself either with possible piercings or tattoos.

Finally as the finder of my wallet moves to the last part of my wallet they will discover a twenty-dollar bill and a check for $50. This informs them again that I have some money and that maybe I’m working for a person. Thus we have as complete an image as my wallet can provide. I am Kyle Jay Johnson; resident of Lake Stevens, WA; I’m a 19 year old driver who enjoys shopping, coffee, technology, friends, girls, and tattoos/piercings; that I could be a model or am interested in it; BECU is the bank of my choice; and that I have some money. Also, my wallet is pretty well warn so they could maybe infer that I’ve had it for quite a while, or that it is used and flipped through constantly which would mean I’m a heavy shopper or spender.

So now we know whom I am judging by the contents of my wallet, however the person would have no idea as to my full values, ideals, complete personality, and goals. Things about me that are crucial to who I am that they would miss include many things. The facts that I have a huge family, I love spending time outside, spending time with my friends and family, that I love learning and reading, and how much I desire to accomplish success throughout my life would all be missed. Also undetermined would be my intelligence, that I am a Christian, and that I have extremely high career goals as either an attorney in a top firm or a member of International Affairs and Foreign Service. That I love traveling and want to experience many things throughout my life including many extreme sports could never be determined. All of these things are key to who I am, but none of them could be seen as a part of my identity just from the contents in my wallet.
